Trinity School at Greenlawn

Thomas Dits

Thomas Dits has been a teacher at Trinity School at Greenlawn for thirty-one years, where he’s taught history, Latin, German, and the senior Humane Letters Seminar.

Mr. Dits received a B.A. in philosophy in 1979 and a Masters in Medieval Studies in 1981 from the University of Notre Dame. He taught philosophy at Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire and Holy Cross College in Indiana, and has been a teacher at Trinity School at Greenlawn for thirty-one years, where he has taught history, Latin, German, and the senior Humane Letters Seminar. Mr. Dits has also worked to develop Trinity’s drama program, which every student takes part in. The Trinity drama class is a production of a full length play. The drama class is part of our curriculum, so every student acts in two plays. Trinity puts on four plays a year, two by William Shakespeare for the juniors, and two modern plays for the seniors. The entire student body watches all the plays, so during their time at Trinity a student will have seen twelve plays by Shakespeare and twelve modern plays. Mr. Dits has been involved in ninety drama productions at Trinity. The University of Notre Dame has been instrumental in helping him to develop the drama program through workshops that they have provided for Trinity teachers and my students. Mr. Dits has also participated in the Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival and worked with Actors From The London Stage and The Actors Gang from Los Angeles.
